Derek and I grew up together spending many happy times staying at each others homes during school holidays, then as we got older holidays to London on overnight buses with bottles of coke which may have been strengthened with vodka.  He was always a great cousin and pal, even when he went through his punk phase with stuck up hair, i joked later in life that this was why his hair had become sparse.  Although we did not see much of each other later in life I know he cared for and loved his mum and dad greatly, I will miss his cheeky smile and sense of humour.
